This morning the Irish Daily Mirror published an article entitled "HUMAN FIREBALL HORROR" that contained an explicitly graphic description of a suicide method.

  • Media discussion of suicide is vital but research shows that graphic descriptions of suicide methods can be potentially triggering for vulnerable readers and lead to copycat behaviour.
  • Moreover, such a level of detail can be extremely upsetting  to readers who have lost loved-ones to suicide.
If you feel that graphic reporting of suicide methods is inappropriate,
  • EMAIL  THE IRISH DAILY MIRROR,
  • SHARE  THE MEDIA GUIDELINES
  • CALL THE IRISH DAILY MIRROR ON 01 868 8600

Remember one call, email, or letter can change the way the media portray suicide in the future.
